In a world where video content is on the rise as the likes of Netflix, Amazon and YouTube keep on investing heavily, there is (or at least will be) a demand of deep analytics capable of analyzing consumer behaviours, likes and dislikes etc so as to optimize Ads, invest on content that actually delivers active on-screen views and even possibly leverage emotional connections.

The brands know the cannot keep relying on the “Like” or “dislike” buttons to accurately tell them if a video was really good or bad, nor can they rely on video views and the infamous “Are you still watching” (by Netflix) to accurately measure if a person is actually watching frame by frame of the whole entire video or not. This is where Emoconn steps in!

SAP Customer Experience and Emoconn

Emoconn is a startup application created by a few brilliant engineers in Munich with the sole goal of monitoring both Micro and Macro expressions of video viewers so as to analyze moments of joy, disgust, anger, sadness etc through each video frame, duration of actual on screen view a consumer gives a video plus the age and sex of the viewer, all with a reportedly accuracy of 99%! Analytics like these are what YouTube and Netflix would surely want to better optimize their Ads (e.g. deliver their ads at moments of joy or Sadness, select influencers based on what emotions they attract etc) and help decision making on what projects to invest heavily on which to not on the case of Netflix.

SAP Customer Experience was an engaging audience to a presentation and demo delivered by the Emoconn team at our offices recently as part of our regular Lunch talks where it sparked a lot of interest and curiosity on how it can potentially be integrated with E-commerce services for clients, In-store activities of shoppers and on Mobile video applications just to name a few. Emoconn has a bit ofway to go to be product ready, but the signs are positive and attracted interest of the likes of Google already.
