SAP Munich took part in another special day where we volunteered to help three social Projects. We spent time and money helping out on activities to better their homes and surroundings.
Lebenshilfe München – Residential Home, Hofbauern Straße
The “SAP day” is an initiative going back to more than 10 years. This year, senior residents at the Hofbauern residential home were our hosts. The day started out with having breakfast together, followed by division of the teams. As one team took some of the senior residents out for excursions, including a restaurant visit, the other team stayed behind to undertake some residential chores. Our garden crew was involved with collection of dead leaves and removal of weeds. Furthermore, the team cleaned out the rabbit hutch, oiling of the terrace and much more. We also took part in an execution of a flea market alongside some of the senior residents. The whole day was filled with the happy moods and the best commitment from our Lebenshilfe team and the senior residents.
Refugee home Munich – Elsenheimer Street
The second undertaking of the initiative focused on the refugee home at Elsenheimer street, Munich. The refugee home currently houses around 450 people of diverse countries of origin. We were able to revamp four shared kitchens including apply a new coat of paint. We had so much fun working together to refurbish the home and put smiles on the inhabitants.
Animal shelter Erding
We also had a social day just outside central Munich, in Erding. We were able to cover two local locations in one successful day! Firstly, at the Erding shelter, our team was able to fix up new dog kennels and participate in gardening duties. At the second location, Kirchberg branch office, two of our colleagues were busy with the replacement of paddock fences. The day was concluded by a family atmosphere of sharing some coffee and cake in the evening.
Our next Munich volunteer days will take place in April 2019. See you soon!
